  2. Madrid Protocol is a route of global branding. It is an international trademark treaty designed to simplify the international trademark registration process. It is headed and regulated by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). Through this way one can get registration of trademark in various countries under the treaty, it is pertinent to note, that there are more than 100 countries under the treaty. One can go with this route by engaging a professional trademark attorney, who will file and manage application on behalf of their clients. The same shall be very cost effective.

2. Individual Country wise

The second way is to appoint a trademark agent, this option is much known to public at large, there are very less or no technicalities to understand in this option. Under this option the applicant is just required to appoint or hire a trademark attorney or agent who in result will file the application for registration of the trademark. The major drawback under this option is that, the applicant would require appointing various trademark attorney/agents for each territory/country where he wants to protect his trademark. The process of registration under this option will vary as per the domestic laws and procedure of the respective territories.

This route can be cost effective, if one needs to file trademark application in 1-2 countries only.
